A series of interactive workshops designed to connect education and conservation practitioners with the latest research in environmental behaviour change and best practice.

behaviour change workshops

Overview

The South West Behaviour Change Forum hosted two interactive workshops with the aim of establishing a basis for evaluating education and conservation programmes concerned with sustainable futures. The initial event held at Paignton Zoo had a broad focus of establishing knowledge and understanding basis for behaviour change within education work. The subsequent event at Bristol was held in response to attendees concerns that campaigns and programmes are not currently evaluated, and therefore their efficacy is unknown (or often assumed).

Furthermore, it was understood that the challenges and opportunities for promoting behaviour change in this sector would be enhanced by looking at ways to integrate and relate academic and practitioner knowledges.

Project Strategy

The workshops presented case study material from external partner organisations (RSPB, Chester Zoo) followed by facilitated networking sessions. The morning focused upon the priorities, experiences and competencies of conservation and educational bodies while the afternoon focused on the establishment of academic research links between organisations and stakeholders.
